AfterBlooms Ingredient Library
Every AfterBlooms fragrance is built with intention.
Some ingredients come directly from botanicals, like flowers, fruits, woods, resins, herbs, and spices. Others are modern aroma materials chosen for softness, consistency, longevity, and balance.
This library explains what our ingredients smell like, why they are used, and how we think about safety in the finished formula.
Technical names do not automatically mean harsh, and natural materials are not automatically gentle. What matters is the ingredient, the amount used, the finished formula, and how the fragrance is worn.
Ingredient Safety Notes
A calmer look at fragrance safety
These notes explain how AfterBlooms reviews fragrance materials, safety research, and finished-formula use.
How We Review Ingredient Safety
At AfterBlooms, ingredient safety is reviewed in context.
A fragrance material is not judged by its name alone, or by one headline, one claim, or one isolated study. What matters is how the material is used, how much is used, where it is applied, and how it behaves in the finished fragrance.
Before an ingredient becomes part of an AfterBlooms formula, Patrick looks at:
- The role of the ingredient in the perfume
- The amount used in the finished formula
- Available safety data
- Known sensitivity or allergen considerations
- IFRA guidance where applicable
- The intended use as a fine fragrance applied externally to skin
When we say an ingredient is safe for our use, we mean it is used thoughtfully within the finished formula, at the level selected, for the intended purpose.
Fragrance sensitivity is still personal. Even carefully formulated products may not be suitable for every individual, which is why we believe in clear ingredient information and thoughtful use.
How We Read Research
We believe safety research matters. We also believe it should be read carefully.
Not every study reflects real perfume use. Some studies use unusually high concentrations, isolated cells, oral ingestion, injection, or exposure methods that do not match the way a fine fragrance is worn on skin.
That distinction matters.
A hazard tells us what a material could do under certain conditions. A risk assessment asks whether that effect is likely under realistic use.
AfterBlooms looks at ingredients through the lens of the finished formula, the concentration used, the intended application, and the available safety guidance.
Our goal is not to defend old materials simply because they are traditional, or reject newer materials simply because they are new. Our goal is to use the right materials, at the right levels, in formulas that are beautiful, wearable, and responsibly made.

For those who want the deeper context
Research & Safety References
This section collects safety references, documentation notes, and research context that help explain how AfterBlooms reviews fragrance materials.
How We Read Research
We believe research should be read in context. Not every study reflects real perfume use. Some studies use unusually high concentrations, isolated cells, oral ingestion, injection, or exposure methods that do not match the way a fine fragrance is worn on skin.
AfterBlooms reviews fragrance materials by looking at the material, the amount used, the finished formula, the intended application, and the available safety guidance.
IFRA & Supplier Documentation
When available, AfterBlooms reviews IFRA guidance, supplier documentation, allergen information, and safety data for fragrance materials used in our formulas.
These documents help guide responsible use levels and finished-formula review.
Finished Formula Review
A fragrance ingredient is not reviewed by name alone. The finished formula matters.
AfterBlooms considers how much of each material is used, how the fragrance is intended to be worn, and how the full perfume comes together before it reaches the skin.
Ingredient-Specific Research
This section will continue to grow as we add ingredient-specific safety notes, supplier documentation, IFRA guidance, and peer-reviewed research where helpful.
Our goal is to make fragrance safety easier to understand without overwhelming customers or reducing complex ingredients to internet headlines.
